Counselling provides a safe place to talk about and explore difficulties that you may be experiencing in your life. Counselling is different than talking to family and friends. A counsellor is trained to listen attentively in a non-judgmental way and think about your problem with you. If your ways of coping no longer seem to work for you, and you feel stressed, anxious or unhappy maybe it is time to look at counselling.
I am a qualified counsellor and offer a confidential counselling service. I will be committed to help you make your own choices in life, providing a safe environment for you to talk, and explore your difficulties in more depth, to feel heard, valued and respected. I can also help you with Loss, Bereavement, Anxiety, Stress, Self-Esteem, Anger, Guilt, Relationships, Substance Misuse, Addictions, Abuse and working with change.
One to one sessions can be held at my practice or if you live to far away and still want to see me I can arrange counselling sessions over the Telephone, which can still be as effective as the one to one sessions.
Our First Session
This is where we talk about what is worrying you, discuss what counselling might provide, what you wish to achieve, and to see if you feel comfortable working with me. If you are happy at this stage to continue then we can meet each week for an hour at a time. We will need to agree a day and time that will be suitable to both of us and it will be your time every week, unless we agree to change it.
You may choose to work for a limited time period of six sessions or you may choose to have more, we will review and assess our work together at regular intervals and establish how you feel, and agree when it feels right to end.
Counselling
If you are looking for a more spiritual based view in counselling, then as a Reverend I am happy to offer this service to you. Please state your preference when you make the inquiry.
Confidentiality
I offer a private and confidential service, which means I will not share any information from you or about you with any one else. However, if there is serious risk of harm to you, another person or child then I would have to break confidentiality. However, I would discuss this with you first. I also receive supervision from another qualified counsellor; this helps me to give you a good service.
